What It Was
Skylab is a vetted community of Web3 builders, including engineers, founders, designers, collectors, and investors. It was designed to foster mentorship, education, co-creation, and co-investment during the peak of the NFT boom.
What I Did
- Co-authored Skylab's mission, vision, and principles
- Launched the Skylab.xyz website and onboarding experience
- Formalized the member recruitment pipeline and ran the selection committee
- Designed and facilitated weekly "Hot Seat" sessions for peer feedback and collaboration
- Led weekly community and leadership calls as part of a six-person volunteer team

What Came Out of It
- Grew the community to over 400 active Web3 builders
- Hosted more than 100 live Hot Seat sessions
- Created lasting infrastructure and culture that helped Skylab continue through the Web3 downturn
What I Learned
Routines and rituals are essential for keeping communities active and engaged. Volunteer-led communities need a clear and specific mission to stay aligned. Matching people with complementary skills creates massive value, but timing and member data are key to making it happen.
