What It Was

Test your Glee.N.A was an ambitious project where we created 8 mini games representing activities from the Glee television show across the Glee high school. Depending how well you did in the games, you build a profile of the type of Glee character you would be.

Each game was inspired by old 80s video games and early smart phone games. Players also earned trophies and got their name on leaderboards for each game. The project was designed to promote the TV show and create community around the Glee brand during the height of its cultural phenomenon status.

What I Did

  • Built 4 of the eight games using advanced ActionScript 3 programming
  • Implemented trigonometry and physics calculations to make the games feel realistic and responsive
  • Completed each game in one week under tight development constraints

What Came Out of It

  • Successfully launched 8 fully functional mini-games on schedule
  • Created an engaging gaming experience that connected fans to the Glee universe
  • Delivered a complex interactive platform that met FOX's promotional goals

What I Learned

This project was really fun. Our team had full creative license to create each game. They just had to be simple and programmable in only one week. The timelines were very tight, but it was a perfect constraint. This project also forced me to relearn trigonometry and the physics of trajectories. I thought I would never use those skills again.
